[Also in Division F1] A rotary liquid flowmeter comprises an impeller chamber 4 having tangential ports 5 to facilitate driving an impeller 6 connected by gearing 8, 9, 10 to a counter mechanism 11 housed within a protective transparent plastic case 12. The case is mounted within a cover 2 secured by a screwthreaded ring 3 to the meter body 1 and is filled with a clear liquid, e.g., glycerine and water, which acts as a lubricant and an anti-freeze and enables the counter numerals to be easily read. Pressures within the case 12 and body 1 are equalized by means of a diaphragm 14. Access can be had to the counter mechanism and gearing without removing the body 1 from the pipe line.
