Abstract
1,004,784. Chewing gum candy. R. BEER. July 13, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 26953/62. Heading A2B. Chewing candy comprising a chewing gum core completely covered with hard candy or caramel is produced by injecting a plastic chewing gum mass into the centre portion of a plastic rod-shaped candy or caramel mass, e.g. along the longitudinal axis thereof, and then constricting the composite rod-shaped body at longitudinally spaced points so as to sever it into relatively short individual portions, simultaneously drawing part of the candy or caramel mass over the exposed side faces of the severed chewing gum mass. The chewing gum mass may comprise chewing gum base, e.g. chicle, evenly dispersed in a viscous mixture of a major proportion of invert sugar syrup and a minor proportion of corn syrup, and its preparation is described. It is sufficiently liquid between 60‹C. and 85‹C. to be pumpable for injection and may include flavouring and colouring material.
