One side of a vehicle may be lowered in close proximity to the ground to facilitate entry by an incapacitated person by means of a jack 3, the opposed pistons of which act on the ends of spring units 2 to move the rods 6 outwardly to rotate the bell-cranks 11 and thereby lower one side of the vehicle. A similar jack 3 may be interposed between the units 2 on the other side of the vehicle and the units 2 are preferably of the type referred to in Specification 1,001,448
