Abstract
1,004,041. Valves. CRANE LTD. June 14, 1963, No. 23771/63. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a casing 1 having inlet and outlet passages 2, 3 opening into a flat surface of the casing which is engaged by a flat surface of a bonnet 12. A recess 6 is formed around one of the passages in the casing, as shown, or in the bonnet, in which recess a removable valve seating ring 7 is located. A conical valve seating surface 8 is provided on one or both sides of the ring. A spare seating ring may also be provided in a recess around the other passage. The ring is sealed by sealing rings 22, 36 and a second ring 21 seals the other passage. The seals 21, 22 may be replaced by a single seal encircling both passages. The ring is preferably provided with a radial clearance 11 in the recess so that the ring may be centred by the closure member 9 prior to tightening the bolts between the casing and bonnet.
