A headboard A for beds has a shelved wing B attached to one or both sides by screws or bolts b<SP>2</SP>. Each wing comprises plywood or hardboard formed with vertical grooves b<SP>1</SP> and bent to correspond with the curvature of the inner edge of the shelves C. The headboard A and wings B may be covered with a flexible plastics material.
