Abstract

1,001,425. Vacuum switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 6, 1964 [May 15, 1963], No. 19364/63. Heading H2B. A vacuum switch envelope is evacuated through a duct 11, 12 formed in one of the electrodes 4 and communicating with the interior of the envelope. The duct is then sealed at 14, by pinching the end of a thin-walled tube 13 forming an extension of the duct, and the seal is protected by means of a cover 15 which also serves as a terminal for the electrode 4. The terminal may take the form of a threaded stud (as shown), a threaded socket (not shown) or a flattened cylindrical portion (Fig. 2, not shown), for attachment to a clamp.
