Abstract

1,001,332. Pipe couplings. KURT HERZOG A.G. Aug. 12, 1964 [Aug. 13, 1963], No. 32929/64. Heading F2G. A gas container 2 for refuelling the tank of a pyrophoric lighter has a bored connector-piece 1 which opens a valve 10 in the container 2 in turn with opening a valve (not shown) in the said tank when the connector-piece is inserted into a filling opening in the lighter and is characterized by a resilient sealing member 17 mounted on the connector-piece to provide a gas-tight seal between the exterior of the container 2 and the exterior of the lighter during refuelling. The sealing member 17 may be of truncated-conical, cylindrical, or disc shape. An extension 11 of the connector-piece 1 is slideable on guide-ribs 12 in a bore of a part 9 which is held by indentations 8 in the lid 4 of the container. Pressure on the connector-piece 1 deflects the valve 10 to expose a cross-bore 16 which opens into the bore 15 to permit the egress of gas to the lighter tank.
