A housing for electrical distribution equipment comprises front and rear half-sections 1, 2, Fig. 2, of a shell of reinforced plastics material, the half-sections having flanges 3 and 4 recessed at intervals 8, Fig. 4, joined to a flange 5 of a steel framework 6 of electrical equipment housed inside the shell, by releasable set-screws 15 (Fig. 2). Apertures 8 between the facing recesses and the steel flange form air passages to the inside of the housing. Pins 16, Fig. 5, going through all three flanges at intervals, provide seats for vertically slotted clips 18 attached to weatherproofing shrouds 17, which can be fixed over the joint at the sides of the box by vertically downward movement. Further shielded ventilating apertures, which communicate with the apertures in the joint, are obtained by raised flat bosses 19 at the regions of the shell near the flanges 3, 4. A top shroud 21 is also provided and is locked to screw-heads projecting through apertures in the joint at the top, the screws being releasable only from inside the housing. Shroud 21 prevents withdrawal of the side shrouds without itself being first removed. Similar screw engagements may also be provided (Fig. 8, not shown) for the side shrouds.
