Abstract

1,000,621. Railway vehicle undercarriages. PULLMAN Inc. July 8, 1963, No. 26881/63. Addition to 951,952. Heading B7L. An improvement in or modification of the invention described and claimed in the parent Specification consists in the provision of crossbearer structures 323, 323a, 323a and 323, Figs. 7, 8 and 9, carried by the centre sill 312 between the end bolsters 314, the structures having end rollers 320 and being generally similar in construction to the bolsters. The coupling member or platform 336 slidable on the top of the centre sill under control of the hydraulic cushion device (not shown) is provided with detachable pins 343, 342 and 343. The construction permits transportation of a full length container 318 supportable by the bolster rollers; two containers 318a slightly longer than half the length of the container 318 supportable by the rockers on the bolsters and structures 323a; or two containers 318b supportable only by the rollers on the structures 323 and 323a. In the latter two cases the centre pin 342 is removed from the coupling member whilst in the first case the two pins 343 are removed. Specification 951,094 also is referred to.
