Abstract

1,000,109. Pistons. WELLWORTHY Ltd. June 19, 1964 [June 19, 1963; July 18, 1963], Nos. 24405/63 and 28452/63. Heading F2T. [Also in Division B3] In a light metal piston 1 a wear ring 7 has its inner peripheral portion located in a recess 3 in the bottom 4 of a piston ring groove 2 and is secured in position by having a portion of the piston formed, e.g. rolled, over the outer periphery 10 of the ring. The ring 7 is an inwardly springing split steel ring and a ring may be fitted at each side of the groove.
