Abstract
The invention comprises iminodibenzyl derivatives of the formula <FORM:1000191/C2/1> wherein R1 is a methyl or ethyl radical and R2 is hydrogen or an acyl radical (e.g. acetyl), and their preparation by converting a 3-amino-5-acyl-iminodibenzyl into its diazonium salt and either converting directly into a 5-acyl-iminodibenzyl - 3 - sulphinic acid by treating with sulphur dioxide, or converting into the 3-chlorosulphonyl compound by reaction with sulphur dioxide and then reducing to the 5-acyl - iminodibenzyl - 3 - sulphinic acid; esterifying the latter by reacting one of its salts with a reactive ester of methanol or ethanol and, if desired, hydrolysing the resulting 3-methyl-or 3-ethyl-sulphonyl-5-acyl iminodibenzyl to split off the acyl group R2. 3 - Amino - 5 - acetyl - iminodibenzyl is made by partial hydrolysis of 3-acetylamino-5-acetyl iminodibenzyl.
