Abstract
1,099,797. Printed circuits. MARCONI CO. Ltd. July 11, 1966 [Oct. 4, 1965], No. 41951/65. Heading H1R. In a printed circuit comprising a plurality of conductive patterns deposited in succession on an insulating substrate, vertically adjacent patterns are insulated from one another where desired by the interposition of a local patch of insulating material at the crossover point. As shown, a first wiring pattern 2a, 2b, 2c is formed by vacuum deposition through a mask on a glass substrate 1. Local insulating patches 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d of, e.g. SiO are then deposited on the first wiring pattern at points where it is desired to insulate it from a subsequent pattern. A second wiring pattern 4a, 4b is next deposited, being insulated from the first pattern at 3a, 3b, 3d, but being electrically connected to it at unprotected crossover 5. Further insulating patches 6a, 6b are formed, followed by a third wiring pattern 7 which contacts conductor 2c at 8 but is otherwise insulated from previous patterns by patches 3c, 6a, 6b.
