Abstract

1,098,778. Centrifugal strainers. ERNST HEINKBL MOTORENBAU G.m.b.H. July 14, 1966 [July 27, 1965], No. 31579/66. Heading BID. In a centrifugal strainer in which maternal flows from inlet 11 down the inside of a cloth or perforate screen 8 lining a frusto-conical drum 7, a liner 4, 5 rotates with the drum and carries a plurality of circumferentially adjustable rings (19) (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) which carry generally spirally extending baffles 6 extending outwards to abut screen 8. Baffles 6 curve so as to oppose the flow of material between screen 8 and liner 5, and by adjusting the rings (19) so that baffles 6 abut axially or are more or less staggered, the dwell time of material in the drum is adjusted. Rings and baffles may 'be of plastics, and further adjustment of dwell time may be effected by changing rings (19) for another set whose baffles have a different curvature or pitch. Hub 4 supports drum 7 on shaft 1, liquid is drained from chamber 15 by outlet 17 and solids are thrown into chamber 14.
