Abstract

1,098,497. Centrifuge drum. K. PAUSE. April 30, 1965 [May 2, 1964], No. 18396/65. Heading B1D. A centrifuge drum comprises a hollow cylindrical member 4 into which an annular cover and an annular bottom 1, 2 have been secured by shrinking of the drum, the cover and bottom each being equipped with a collar 3 which is directed outwardly of the drum while lying in the drum and which is formed with slots 5 extending in a direction parallel or substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum. The diameter of the cover and bottom 1, 2 may be selected so that the increase in diameter of the drum in the plane of the cover and bottom caused by them is half the increase in diameter caused by operation of the drum. The outer surface of each collar 3 may be conical with its smallest diameter adjacent the collar edge, and the collar may be connected to the drum with screws or welded tacks. The drum may also comprise a cover screen 8, a supporting screen 7, and slots 6 in the cover or bottom 1, 2 opening into slots 5.
