Abstract

1,098,187. Refrigerators. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 7, 1965 [May 12, 1964], No. 19663/64. Heading F4H. A heat insulated panel, e.g. a refrigerator door, comprises spaced sheets 1 and 2, a mass of foamed plastic heat insulation 3 adhering to the sheets and support members 8 which are embedded in the insulation and are held against sheet 2 by grommets 7 extending through aligned holes in sheet 2 and member 8, the grommets being adapted to receive the ends of a bottle retaining rod 6. A channel section member 4 surrounds the periphery of the panel and a trim member (Fig. 1, not shown) is provided around one face of the panel. Sheet 1 is formed of light gauge steel, sheet 2 of thin plastics material and insulation 3 of foamed polyurethane. During manufacture of the door sheets 1 and 2 are held in a jig (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) arranged to support the sheets over their entire exterior surfaces.
