Abstract
1,098,068. Beam and column reinforcement. M. CONGY. March 3, 1965 [March 6, 1964; Dec. 23, 1964], No. 9025/65. Heading E1W. A reinforcement cage for a beam or column is formed by joining together two or more complementary prefabricated sections, each with a number of substantially parallel stirrups connected to longitudinal bars a maximum of one half of the stirrup section. The stirrups may be rectangular, as shown, triangular or circular, and may have one sloping side, (Fig. 17, not shown), or two sloping sides (Fig 12, not shown). The longitudinal bars may be welded to the stirrups, with or without an intermediate spacer 50 (Fig. 5, not shown), or fixed thereto with wire lashings. Either the longitudinal bars or the stirrups may be corrugated at the points of fixing of the stirrups to the longitudinal bars, (Figs 6 and 7, respectively, not shown). The pre - fabricated elements may be formed from a mesh of straight longitudinal bars with straight or cranked transverse bars by folding the mesh along lines parallel to the longitudinal bars, (Figs. 12-14,-not shown).
