Abstract
N-Methyl pyridinium azo pigments are obtained from the condensation product of 2- or 4-amino-pyridine with 4-nitroso-N,N-dimethylaniline, by quaternization in aqueous suspension with methyl or dimethylsulphate. Preferably 1 mole of azo pigment and 3 moles of methyl sulphate are reacted at 25 DEG C. for approximately 3 hours and the product is purified by hot filtration through charcoal and subsequent salting out.
