Abstract
1,097,001. Separating stones; potato harvesters. W. E. SCORGIE. July 8, 1964 [April 8, 1963], No. 13892/63. Headings A1B and A1F. An agricultural machine for preparing ground by separating stones and depositing them back under the soil comprises a digger elevator 1 which is vibrated by agitators 5 raised or lowered by a lever 41, and a cross conveyer 2 arranged to deposit stones in a furrow formed by a plough share 11 which is detachably and adjustably mounted at the side of the machine. A loading conveyer 31 is attached when harvesting potatoes to elevate the crop from the conveyer 2, the rods of which are cleaned by a rotary brush. The .ground wheels 4 are mounted on a cranked axle which is rotated by a screw of hydraulic ram to alter the depth of penetration of the digger elevator 1. The coulter discs 10 can be in the form of tyred wheels. Also described is a ridger, comprising two ploughs of different hands, a subsoiler and a roller which precedes the -ground preparing machine with very stony soil.
