Abstract
Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1096744/C2/1> where R1 is an aziridinyl, alkoxy or C1-C6 alkyl group, R is an alkoxy, alkylamino, alkenylamino, cyclohexylamino or alkoxyalkylamino group, with the proviso that when R1 is aziridinyl, R is other than alkoxy, and X is an oxygen or sulphur atom, can be prepared by the reaction of the appropriate phosphorus-containing mono- or di-chloride with one or two equivalents of ethyleneimine in the presence of a hydrogen chloride acceptor, e.g. triethylamine.ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise a compound of the general formula: <FORM:1096744/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 is an aziridinyl, alkoxy or C1-C6 alkyl group, R is an alkoxy, alkylamino, alkenylamino, cyclohexylamino or alkoxy-alkylamino group, with the proviso that p when R1 is aziridinyl R is other than alkoxy, and X is an oxygen or sulphur atom, in admixture with an insecticidally inert carrier material. The compositions may be in the form of emulsions, non-aqueous solutions, wettable powders, vapours, dusts and dips. The invention also relates to a method of eradicating insects by killing them or rendering them sterile which comprises applying to an insect habitat an effective amount of a compound of the above general formula.
