1,096,519. Gauges. A. EISELE. Oct.4, 1966, No.44276/66. Heading G1M. In a combined concentricity and perpendicularity measuring gauge there is provided a hollow stationary hand 16 for inter-changeably receiving a dial indicator and a pneumatic plunger measurement indicator, a rotary handle 14 movably mounted on the stem 22 of a measuring head 12, the measuring head 12 having a pilot portion 30 which engages the reference bore. Longitudinal co-axial bores 62, 120, 190 extend through the gauge slidably mounting abutting movementtransmitting rods 66, 122, 192. The end 82 of rod 66 has an inclined face which engages a slot 88 formed in the measuring feeler 96. A further measuring feeler 68 is provided for limited sliding movement parallel to the rod 62, its movements being transmitted to the rod 62 by a screw 72. A stop 42 limits the amount of penetration of the measuring head 12 into the bore to be measured, the stop comprising a slidable collar 44 which is retained in the required position by engagement of a spring-loaded detent ball 52 in either of notches 38, 40 of the measuring head 12. Antifriction bearings 128 are provided to facilitate rotation of the handle 14. The stationary handle 16 has a cup-shaped socket 160 which may engage a conventional dial indicator, the motion of the rods being transmitted to the plunger of the dial indicator. Alternatively the motion of rod 192 may be detected by the piston 120 of a pneumatic plunger device which is connected by a hose 208 to the air chamber of a pneumatic indicator. In use, the gauge is zeroised and the measuring head 12 inserted in the bore to be measured; on rotation, any deviations from concentricity and perpendicularity are indicated by variations in dial readings.
