Abstract
1,095,485. Polyurethane films and fibres. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. April 27, 1966 [April 28, 1965], No. 18553/66. Heading B5B. [Also in Division C3] Films and fibres of polyhydroxyurethanes are made by reacting at least one primary or secondary hydroxyalkylamine with a polyvinylene carbonate or a vinyl carbonate copolymer containing at least 50% of vinylene carbonate units to obtain a polyhydroxyurethane, which is then formed into the desired shape and thereafter is crosslinked to obtain the final product. Cross-linking is effected by heat or I.R. rays. Preferred hydroxyalkylamines have the formula R1.NH.R2 where R1 is H, or an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group of 1-6 C atoms, and R2 is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydroxyalkyl group of 1-6 C atoms; examples are ethanolamine and diethanolamine. Copolymers of vinylene carbonate with acrylonitrile, acrylamide, acrylic or methacrylic esters, olefins, butadiene, styrene or substituted styrene, vinyl ethers, vinyl or vinylidene chloride, and vinyl esters may be used.
