Abstract
1,095,194. Counters; selective signalling. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGSG.m.b.H. March 23, 1965, No. 12256/65. Headings G4D and G4H. Permanent magnets arranged on a numeral wheel according to a binary code influence external contacts to read the counter. Each numeral wheel bears four discs 22<SP>1</SP>a-22<SP>1</SP>d, the least significant having five magnets 27 which close reed contacts 24 when immediately opposite as in Fig. 2. As shown applied to a meter to be read at intervals, incoming pulses 3 energize a motor 4 to drive one side 9a of a differential whereby an arm 15 releases a lever 14. A continuously energized motor 11 makes one revolution to restore arm 15 and re-engage lever 14, at the same time advancing the meter. At read-out, contact 13 is opened and read-out contacts are brought into proximity with the meter. Incoming pulses during readout rotate arm 15 so that when contacts 13 are reclosed a number of revolutions of motor 11 may be necessary to return arm 15 to normal position. The read-out contacts may be moved sequentially to read out several counters. The counters may be driven additively or subtractively, or they may be used for multi-tariff purposes.
