Abstract

1,093,900. Cleaning and scouring pads. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Nov. 12, 1965, No. 48033/65. Heading A4F. A cleaning and scouring pad comprises a web of intermingled fibres interbonded with a solid material comprising a resinous binder and a washing composition. The web may be of natural or synthetic fibres to which the binder and washing composition are added either simultaneously in the form a liquid mixture which is subsequently solidified or separately in the form of liquids which are subsequently solidified. Abrasive materials may be bonded to the web and the resinous binder may be of thermoplastics material so that a heat-sealed edge for the pad may be provided. Suitable materials for the fibres, resinous binder and washing composition and preferable methods of pad manufacture are disclosed.
