Abstract
1,093,495. Vacuum switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 31, 1964 [July 31, 1963], No. 30411/63. Heading H2B. The conductor 4 supporting the fixed contact 5 of a vacuum switch 1 is connected to a terminal 15, located adjacent to a second terminal 11 connected with the moving contact 8, by means of a framework consisting of a number of conducting bars 12 equally spaced around, and parallel to, the axis of the vacuum switch and connected together at their ends by members 13, 14 respectively connected to conductor 4 and terminal 15. The second terminal 11 passes through an insulated opening 17 in member 14. The number of bars 12 may be increased and in the limit could consist of a continuous cylinder surrounding the switch. The assembly may be immersed in oil or like to improve insulation between terminals 11, 15 &c.
