1,092,889. Illuminated signs. ELECTROPLAST G.m.b.H. April 5, 1966, No. 15076/66. Heading G5C. [Also in Division F4] A lighting fixture comprises a transparent or translucent tube 12 closed by caps 10, 14 and enclosing a chassis frame consisting of carrier strips 18, 19 joined at the ends by members 20, 21 and supporting a light source 24 which may be a fluorescent discharge tube, the caps being secured to the chassis under tension so as to press on the ends of the tube 12. The fixture may be used as a sign by enclosing lettered panels in the tube on opposite sides. The chassis carries supporting plates 30 fitting inside the ends of the tube 12 and having guide flanges 31 at the edges. The caps 10, 14 are flanged to embrace the ends of the tube and are secured to the members 20, 21 by screws with the interposition of packing plates 29. The chassis may support control gear for the lamp. The fixture is secured to a mast 4 by straps 3 carrying a fixing plate 2 to which the end cap 10 is secured. The central gear may be mounted on the fixing plate. Alternatively, the fixture may be secured direct to a surface or suspended. The tube 12 may be rectangular, trapezoidal or hemicylindrical in cross-section and may enclose a reflector. One end cap may be shaped like the tip of an arrow.
