Abstract

A process for the production of silage comprises the addition to the grass or other green crop of peat having absorbed therein an additive permitting or aiding the grass or green crop material to ferment, the peat not having undergone appreciable carbonisation during absorption of the additive. The additive may be an acid and/or molasses.
