Abstract

1,091,663. Brake adjuster. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. May 5, 1965 [June 1, 1964], No. 47675/66. Divided out of 1,091,662. Heading F2E. An automatic slack adjuster of the type having a housing containing a worm gear and a worm engaging the latter, wherein the brake is actuated by pivoting the housing about the worm axis, and slack adjustment is made by rotating the worm, and thus the worm-wheel relative to the housing is characterized by the mechanism for effecting the adjustment providing an adjustment the amount of which is limited to an extent which is both predetermined and independent of the amount by which the brake slack exceeds the predetermined value. Three embodiments are described in the Specification; these are the embodiments disclosed in the parent Specification.
