Abstract

1,090,555. Regulating I. C. engines. ROBERT BOSCH G. m. b. H. Sept. 6, 1965 [Sept. 26, 1964], No.37956/65. Heading F1B. In a regulator for the fuel-air ratio in a fuel injection I. C. engine operating with separate ignition, a cam 6 is traversed by a roller 8 to move a fuel pump delivery control shaft 17 through levers 9, 16 which are interconnected by a pin and slot connection 14, 15. The position of pivot 10 on shaft 11 is adjusted in accordance with temperature by thermostat 13. Cam 6 is mounted on carrier 5, pivotally connected to a governor sleeve 3 carried by the drive shaft 1 of injection pump 2. Carrier 5 is rotated around shaft 1 by a pin (4'), Fig. 2 (not shown), having a ball pivot end (31) engaged by bar (32) connected through lever (33), shaft (34) and lever (35) Fig. 3 (not shown) with the air induction butterfly valve (36) and the operating pedal (38). A two-step cam (39) actuated by a linkage (not described) from thermostat 13 engages lever (35) to control the hot and cold idling positions of valve (36). Operation Movements of the pedal (38) and the air induction valve (36) cause rotation of cam 6 about the axis of shaft 1 whilst support 26 pivots about its point of engagement in recess 27. Increase of engine speed causes upward movement of sleeve 3 whereby cam 6 is pivoted about pivot 4 initially against the force of spring 21 and finally against the force exerted jointly by springs 21, 20.
