Abstract
In a process for making textile stiffeners by stamping out the stiffeners from polyethylene terephthalate sheet or film, fibrillation and delamination is avoided by using polyethylene terephthalate containing 0.25 to 10% by weight of inert particles of 0.1 to 10 microns average particle size. Specified particulate materials are titanium dioxide, silicates and silico-aluminates such as china clay. The particulate materials are preferably added during the preparation of the polyester. The polyethylene terephthalate film may be oriented in either or both directions of the plane of the film.
