Abstract

Surface treatment with liquid materials.-Relates to water-sprinkling devices for wetting the wheels of road rollers, and consists in directing water under pressure into a trough or spray box from which it trickles on to the road wheel. As shown in Fig. 2, the water is supplied through a feed pipe b in direct communication with a pump or injector and is sprayed horizontally into the open spray box or trough a from which it trickles or flows on to the road-wheel surface c. The trough a may be attached to the engine frame by a bracket f, or in the case of front rollers may be bolted direct to the fork. To distribute the flow evenly across the breadth of the wheel, the trough is divided into compartments by a series of long and short ridges e, e<1> arranged alternately.
