Abstract
1,089,423. Conveyers with self-propelled carriers. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Nov. 18, 1964 [Nov. 18, 1963], No. 46990/64. Headings B7H and B7L. Carriers 10 each have ball races 38 engaging a monorail 21 and an electric motor 16 carried on a lever 41 which is pivoted to the carrier and is biased by a leaf spring 42 so that a drive wheel 18 is pressed against the rail 21. Power for motor 16 is picked up from bus-bars 26 by commutator brush assemblies 27. At a station where a carrier is to be arrested, is a cam 30 which is engaged by surface 20 of drive wheel 18 to pivot the lever 41 and move drive surface 19 away from the rail, the carrier being thereby driven at a lower speed by surface 20 prior to arrestment by a solenoid-controlled stop 32; the drive from surface 20 keeps the carrier pressed against the stop. An arrested carrier also rotates a lever 44 so that its rear end 45 engages the surface 20 of a following carrier to slow it down, each carrier having a buffer 46.
