Abstract

1,089,159. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. I. R. ALEXANDER, H. W. L. TUCKEY, and R. C. FORD. Sept. 7, 1966 [Sept. 8, 1965], No. 38401/65. Heading B8N. An apparatus for dispensing a measured quantity of liquid, such as oil, comprises a float 12 having a magnet 15 adapted to actuate magnetically-operated switches 13, 14 in order to control a solenoid-operated inlet and outlet valves (10, 11, Fig. 1) the arrangement being such that when the liquid falls to a predetermined level the float actuates the switch 14 to close the outlet valve and open the inlet valve and when the liquid rises to a predetermined level the float actuates the switch 13 to close the inlet valve and open the outlet valve thereby dispensing a measured quantity of liquid. The float is provided with P.T.F.E. bushes 24, 25 arranged to run on guide-rods 20, 21 thereby maintaining the magnet 15 in line with the switches; a rod 26 is fitted in the float in order to counterbalance the weight of the magnet. An air vent 4 controlled by a valve 28, a counter (6, Fig. 1), and a filter 29 are provided.
