Abstract

1,088,680. Contacting gases with liquids. FLUOR CORPORATION Ltd. July 8, 1965 [July 13 1964], No. 29080/65. Heading B1R. [Also in Division F4] Cooling tower decking comprises sets 23 of parallel slats 24 which in use rest on tower cross members 35. The individual slats are spaced apart by frames 25 each consisting of two flanges 26 and a plurality of pairs of staggered cross pieces 28, 29. The cross pieces constitute limit stops for spacing the slats for use (as shown) in the tower, and when the slats are rotated as a group relative to the frames, for holding the slats in a closely spaced bundle for transportation. The slats may be made of wood, plastics or metal, the frames being made of polypropylene or other plastics material.
