Abstract
1,088,670. Checkout counters. SEL-LECT FIXTURES DISTRIBUTORS, Inc. May 6, 1966 [June 2, 1965], No. 20205/66. Heading A4T. An elongated checkout counter has customers' goods placed at 12 on an endless conveyer 18 controlled by switch 29, which may alternatively be a rotary platform, the goods passing on to a switch platform 26 which lowers and stops the conveyer to enable a cashier at projecting register 20 to check the goods at 26. At the rear of the counter conveyer 18<SP>1</SP> controlled by parallel switches 22, 29<SP>1</SP> deposits goods at station 16 where they are packed by the cashier at bagging station 30 or by the customer on side 15 at bagging station 40, the bagging stations being separated by a corner box 51 for bags, which co-operates in standing bags at both stations. Goods carts are parked adjacent the cashier side of the front 12, the projecting register 20 providing a clear space for the cashier on side 17. Should conveyer 18 not start when goods are removed from platform 26, pedal 21 may be used.
