Abstract
1,088,273. Ventilation. R. WINNETT. May 20, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 6917/63. Heading F4V. [Also in Division F2] A conduit for supplying air to or withdrawing air from an enclosure comprises a number of elements 12 which are divided into open and blanked off passages and provided with perforations in such manner that air passes through the perforations at substantially constant rates throughout the length of the conduit. As illustrated a supply conduit is made up of three elements 12 connected by plain elements 13. Each element 12 has three passages which are blanked off so that one third of the supplied air passes through the perforations 14 in each element. The elements may be selected to pass round picture rails &o. and may be formed to provide a false coving, picture rail, skirting board or frieze. As shown in Fig. 1, conduits 10 and 11 constructed as above are connected with chambers 2 and 3 which contain fans and are connected by duets 8 and 9 to the outside air through a window or wall. A hit and miss damper 18 covers a perforated well 17 between the chambers and butterfly valves 19 and 20 are provided so that all or part of the air from the enclosure may be recirculated. The chambers 2 and 3 may be located in an opening in a window or wall and the inlet and outlet may take the form of adjustable louvre assemblies. The above described) apparatus may be used for exchanging air between rooms.
