Abstract
1,088,064. Magnetrons. RAYTHEON CO. Aug. 5, 1965 [Aug. 5, 1964], No. 33637/65. Heading H1D. A multi-cavity magnetron has a hollow anode cylinder 24 with a plurality of anode segments 16 mounted on its exterior surface, an emitting cathode cylinder 22 surrounding the anode cylinder and a plurality of slots 18 through the anode cylinder connecting each anode cavity to the interior of the anode cylinder, alternate slots being spaced apart axially to form two sets of slots. The effective electrical length of the interior of the anode cylinder is a whole number of wavelengths at the mid-band frequency of energy propagated within the anode cylinder. A transverse wall of conducting material within the cylinder may be provided to divide the interior into two portions of which one is coupled to the anode cavities through one of the sets of slots, the other portion being coupled to the other set.
