Abstract

Novel sulphamides of the formula <FORM:1087601/C2/1> wherein R1 to R5 are each H or Cl, are made by (a) reacting dibenzylamine or the appropriate chlorine substituted dibenzylamine either with sulphamide, or with sulphamyl chloride followed by reaction of the resulting dibenzylsulphamyl chloride with ammonia; or (b) reacting at least 2 moles of benzylamine or a chlorine substituted benzylamine with 1 mole of sulphamide in the presence of pyridine. Chlorinated dibenzylamines e.g. N-benzyl-(2,4 and 3,4)-dichlorobenzylamine are made by reacting the appropriate benzyl chloride and benzylamine together. Pharmaceutical preparations having activity as anti-depressives, anticonvulsants and blood pressure lowering agents comprise the above sulphamides and a diluent, suitably in a form adapted to oral or parenteral administration.
