Abstract
1,087,658. Livestock feeding appliances. SALOPIAN INDUSTRIES (METALS) Ltd. Aug. 15, 1966 [May 13, 1965], No. 20156/65. Heading A1M. A livestock feeding appliance comprises a travelling hopper 13 and a trough 11 within which is located an open work member 12 anchored at its ends in fixed relation to the trough and extending through the lower end of the hopper, the arrangement being such that as the hopper travels along the trough the spaces in member 12 are filled with food which is subsequently deposited in the trough behind the hopper. The opening 17 in the end walls of the hopper through which the member 12 passes, is adjustable by means of a movable plate 19. The base of the hopper may be closed by a panel 16 of complementary shape to the bottom of the trough or the front and back walls 15 of the hopper may be extended downwards to the base of the trough. Ties may be provided at spaced intervals across the hopper to ensure that the chain is held down. The member 12 may be a chain, a helically wound wire or a rod or rods wound helically with wire. The appliance may be used in a poultry batterey 10.
