Abstract

1,087,178. Lining manholes. A. J. BISHOP. May 18, 1966 [Aug. 4, 1965], No. 33287/65. Heading E1S. Manholes are lined with concrete 2 by means of an inner complete removable shuttering A and an outer partial shuttering B, which is initially placed at the bottom of the manhole. Back-filling M is filled into the space between the shuttering B and the sides of the excavation and then concrete is filled into the space between the .shutterings A and B. The lining is completed by raising the shuttering B in a series of steps and filling in back-filling and concrete at each step. The upper part of the lining is tapered at one side by providing correspondingly tapered shuttering. The shuttering B has radial fingers to hold it at the correct distance from the shuttering A and handles . 'for lifting.
