Abstract
1,085,684. Weighing electrically. HAUNI WERKE KÍRBER & CO. KOMM. GES. July 29, 1966 [Aug.4, 1965], No.34095/66. Heading G1N. The weight of a cigarette is determined by its effect on the resonance frequency of a Piezoelectric crystal. The cigarette 21 (Fig.2) is fed into a trough 15 mounted on a pivoted beam 14, formed with a vertical extension 17 resting on a Piezo-crystal 13 which comprises the frequency determining member of an oscillator. The oscillator output is fed through a filter which senses variations from the frequency due to a standard weight and could be used to control rejector mechanism. The crystal may be mounted in a moisture proof container Fig. 4 (not shown).
