Abstract
1,084,072. Masted lift trucks; vehicle loading elevators. BALDWIN - LIMA - HAMILTON CORPORATION. Feb. 17, 1965 [June 12, 1964], No. 6902/65. Headings B8E and B8H. The mast assembly 12 of a fork lift truck is tiltably mounted on a column 20 which is rotatably mounted about a vertical axis on a beam 41 which is slidably supported in a beam 42 extending longitudinally of the truck. An operator's control station (13), Fig. 2 (not shown), is secured to the mast for movement therewith. The mast assembly 12 comprises a lifting carriage 25 mounted for vertical sliding movement in a pair of channel members 22 under the action of chains 34 and an hydraulic ram 30, the arrangement being such that when the fork tines are raised above the level 21 of the load deck, the mast assembly can be rotated through 360 degrees on the column 20. The column 20 comprises a housing 50 rotatable in bearings on a post 40 and provided at its top with brackets for pivotally supporting the mast assembly 12 and, adjacent its base, with a bracket supporting a pair of mast tilt rams 62. The housing 50 is rotated by an hydraulic motor through worm-gearing 54, 55. The beam 41 is extended and retracted by means of an hydraulic ram 45.
