Abstract

1,083,783. Bench stops. F. O. T. KENNE. Jan. 25, 1966 [Jan. 29, 1965], No. 3329/66. Heading B4X. A workpiece or tool is held on top of a bench by a threaded bolt 2 which non-rotatably extends through a hole in the bench top from the underside thereof and is lifted or lowered by a rotatable disc 6 which is screwed on to the bolt from the upper side and is sunk into the top on a level with the upper surface, the bolt being lifted to such a height that the work 8 can be clamped between the disc 6 and a flanged nut 9 screwed on to the end of the bolt. The disc is provided with a hold for a wrench, such as recesses 7. The lower section 4 of the hole is shaped so that the head 5 of the bolt is displaceable therein without being revolvable. In a modification the head of the bolt is adapted to pass into a tube secured below the bench top, the cross-section of the tube being such as to prevent turning of the bolt. In another modification the disc is rotatably sunk into a washer secured in the top of the bench.
