Abstract

1,080,685. Gas filter. MIAG. MUEHLENBAU UND INDUSTRIE G.m.b.H. June 1, 1965 [July 21, 1964], No. 23235/65. Heading B1T. A plurality of inward flow filtering bags 3 are sequentially cleaned by engagement of their outlet ends by a nozzle 41 which is mounted on a carriage 1 carrying a reverse flow blower 4, the carriage travelling on rails 24 in the filtered air outlet chamber. The carriage may be remotely driven or may be moved by the motor which drives blower 4, through suitable gears and clutches 12..18. Bags 3 may be arranged in a circle, or in parallel rows as shown; in the latter case the carriage travels rectilinearly and limit stops actuate a pair of clutches 14 to reverse the direction of travel. The carriage may have one nozzle 41 which swings from one side to the other on reversing the travel, to clean two rows of bags in turn, or a plurality of nozzles, possibly with separate sequentially opened flaps (Fig. 3, not shown) may be connected to one blower. The bags are supported by internal springs 31, and arranged to tighten as the nozzle suddenly engages them. To this end, the carriage may be driven quickly over an opening and stop thereon, using electromagnetic clutches 14, or protuberences 8 on dividing plate 27 may engage a flexible nozzle so that it springs suddenly over the opening, or the opening may be shaped (7), (Fig. 2, not shown) to partially close the top of a bag and reduce 'blowing time'.
