Abstract

1,080,309. Grinding. N. H. HUTTON. March 18, 1966 [April 9, 1965], No. 15195/65. Heading B3D. Coolant liquid supplied to the interior of a grinding wheel hood 2 at a point remote from the workpiece as described in Specification 981,852 is fed through an adjustably-mounted deflector element 6 having an inner surface formed with ridges 17 for deflecting the liquid back on to the grinding wheel 1 repeatedly without material loss of velocity. The clearance between the deflector and grinding wheel may be set by a collar 19 and gauge 21 before a clamping screw 12 is tightened. Transverse slots 15 are provided at intervals along the inner surface of the deflector and the ridges are each provided with one surface inclined inwardly in the direction of rotation of the grind. ing wheel.
