Abstract
Novel compounds of the formula <FORM:1080246/C2/1> (wherein X and Y are H, halogen, C1- 4 alkyl, alkoxy, CF3, or dimethylamino) are prepared by reacting the corresponding cyanophenyl-benzothiazoles (prepared from cyanobenzoyl chlorides or cyanobenzaldehydes and 2-amino-benzenethiols) with H2S in pyridine. The anti-inflammatory benzothiazoles of the invention may be made up into pharmaceutical compositions with suitable carriers.
