Abstract

1,079,927. Multivibrators. SCHALTBAU G.m.b.H. Sept. 11, 1964 [Sept. 11, 1963], No. 37287/64. Heading H3T. An astable or monostable multivibrator using semi-conductors, thermionic valves or coldcathode tubes has an inductance in the collector or anode lead of one or both of the switching elements, such inductance being shunted by a coupling capacitor and a discharge resistor, the latter being itself shunted by a diode. Fig. 1 shows a monostable circuit in which the switching time is regulated by a variable inductance L, the stored energy in L being transferred to the coupling capacitor C 1 when the input signal at C 2 ceases, thus prolonging the switching time. The diode D 1 shorts the resistor R 1 during discharge. A variable resistor or opposing voltage can be included in series with the inductance; this can be the emitter-collector path of another transistor. The resistor R 1 can also be variable. Fig. 2 (not shown) describes an astable multivibrator with two coupling capacitors and a variable inductance in each collector lead. The invention is particularly useful for controlling the driving motors of trackless battery vehicles, cranes and other conveyer equipment, since the switching time can be controlled without the high wear due to mechanical adjusting means which pass current.
