Containers (not shown) carried by endless conveyer belts 12 engage levers 2 adapted thereby to displace the containers on to adjacent belts. Each lever is rotated to displace a piston against liquid in a cylinder 5. The latter is connected by a pipe 7 with a pneumatic reservoir 8, which itself is connected via a pressure regulating valve 9 with a compressed air source (not shown). Each pipe 7 may have a control valve 13.
