[Also in Division F2] In a sack making machine the feeding mechanism 20 and one or two sewing heads 21, 22 are driven at predetermined relative speed from a motor 2 by a hydrostatic transmission comprising a variable displacement pump 1 which delivers liquid to two or three variable displacement swash-plate motors 7, 8, 9 connected in series. The relative speeds of the feeding mechanism 20 and sewing heads 21, 22 may be adjusted by varying the displacement and thus the output speed of the motors 7, 8, 9 whilst the speed of all the motors may be changed without altering their relative speed by varying the displacement of the pump 1.
