Abstract

1,078,817. Expansible wheels. J. D. W. GREGG. Sept. 8, 1965 [June 10, 1964], No. 23959/64. Heading B7C. In an expansible spring wheel comprising a segmented tyre and run and a hub structure formed of a collar 13 that is only angularly movable relatively to a collar and plate 14, there are secured connectors 12, 15 to each tyre 11 and rim 10 segment the other ends of which connectors are attached respectively to collar 13 and to collar and plate 14. The hub plate may be secured to the driving shaft 17 or brake drum. The wheel is expanded by putting the vehicle in reverse and then the collar 13 is locked to the collar and plate 14 by a device 18.
