Apparatus for measuring the circumferences of cylinders or for measuring deviations of actual cylinder circumferences from predetermined nominal circumferences comprises a yoke 2 carrying at one end the feeler 3 of a dial gauge 4 and at the other end an oppositely positioned feeler 5, the dial gauge having a scale calibrated directly in circumference values or in values representing deviation of an actual cylinder circumference from a predetermined nominal cylinder reference. In a modification, two scales and pointers are provided, arranged so that on complete rotation of one pointer the other moves through one scale division.
